We will be hosting a grief group starting on Thursday, April 13th at 4 pm in the Chapel. This is an opportunity to share together, support one another, and offer God’s love. This group is open to all whose hearts are heavy because grief takes many forms and faces. Please sign up by calling the church office.
Saturday, May 6, is World Labyrinth Day with the motto: “Walk as one at 1”. What does that mean? At one p.m. in every time zone around the globe, people are encouraged to join their collective energy of purposeful walking on a labyrinth to bring peace to our hurting world.
After a brief introduction and prayer beginning at 12:45 p.m. we will join as a community to walk our church labyrinth for peace. Bring a friend.
New Member Session will be held in Syster Hall on May 7th at noon. We invite anyone interested in learning more about the church, our covenants, mission and ministry to please attend. A light lunch is served, please RSVP to the church office at 941-953-7044.
As part of their Spring 2023 tour, the Piedmont University Singers will be performing at both the 9am and 11am services on May 7 and at a special concert later that day at 2:30pm. Admission is free. We hope to see you there!
Kings and Queens Bridge is looking for new players, if you are interested in playing contract bridge for fun. We play on the second Monday afternoon from 1:00 - 4:00 in Room 9 of the Education Building. Please join us.

On the second Sunday of each month we will have a luncheon after the 11am service. When we have a program we will put it on Zoom when possible as a hybrid presentation. ALL are welcome. This is a wonderful way to connect and catch up.

We are blessed as a congregation with members (White, African-American, men, women, all sexual orientations) who are committed to the on-going work for justice. During our weekly gatherings, we raise awareness around issues, build trusting relationships, and commit to loving action. There is always space at the table for you to join us for this sacred conversation.

Ready Readers is a book discussion group that meets on the second Thursday of every month at noon in the Oasis Center. The books we read are chosen from a yearly list provided by the Florida UCC Women and selected by the chair of the organization’s Reading for Renewal. Our group reads the list and descriptions of approximately 30 books and votes on the ones we would like to read for the following year. Current lists of possible selections are available in the Syster Hall library as are several present and previously selected books.
Monthly selections are posted in the newsletter and the midweek message. We welcome and encourage the participation and input of new members even if you are not able to attend every meeting.
Looking for new and creative ways to connect to God’s sacred presence in your life? Seeking to transform old or new aches in your spirit? Wanting to be refreshed and experience fun and joy? Then Artful Prayer could be for you!
Who? Anyone looking for creative spiritual renewal
When? Second Thursday of the month at 2 PM
What to bring? Colored pencils, crayons, or markers, paper and pen/pencil are the usual supplies.

COLLAGE will have a luncheon meeting on the second Sundays of each month in the Oasis Center immediately following the 11 o'clock service. We will have a free box lunch, so please RSVP to Sara Little below in order to know how many lunches to order. Please indicate if you have food allergies. We will try to accommodate them.
Donations are welcome to offset next month's lunch costs.

We gather for a time of prayer INSIDE (due to the humidity) the Oasis Center. Join us as we drum together, letting the movement of our hands and hearts be a prayer to God. All levels of experience welcome for this opportunity. Greg will provide instruction and together we will make a joyful noise to God. The UCC Men's breakfast series continues on Saturday, May 20 and all the men of the congregation, new and longtime members, are invited to join for breakfast in Syster Hall then. Coffee will be on at 8 am and breakfast served at 8:30 am. After breakfast, Dick Miller will present a short and informative program about the MOTE aquarium. You may register by Thursday, May 18 by calling Sherry at the church office at 941-953-7044. We hope to see you there!

May 28th ~ Pentecost Sunday ~ wear RED to worship ~ ONE service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. David Pitt preaching. Rev. Dr. Pitt is a member of our church and a retired UCC pastor who served in a variety of ministries from chaplaincy to local church. Rev. Dr. Pitt is a member of our Lay Visitation Ministry and will guide us as we celebrate the birthday of the church.
Please join members of the Green Team on May 28 right after the 11:00 a.m. service in the sanctuary and online, when Rabbi Brenner Glickman of Temple Emanu-El and Bill Johnson of Brilliant Harvest will talk about the experience of Temple Emanu-El adopting 70% solar power for their campus. The Sarasota synagogue has a fascinating story to tell about how they came to the decision to go solar and how the process played out. Don’t miss this important talk! See you on the 28th!
