This Sunday, July 14th after church, our Welcome Task Force invites you to let loose your craft side by making Peace Flowers.  These flowers will be “planted” for the first day of school, August 12.  We want to make 100 Peace Flowers in English and Spanish with encouraging sayings to the children at Alta Vista.  All supplies provided on July 14th, you bring your love and willing hands.

Please put August 12th at 8:15 a.m. on your calendar to cheer the children back to school and warmly greet the parents.  We will gather in our parking lot.

We will continue to open our hymnal as a prayerbook and theological textbook.

As an extension of the sermon series on singing our faith, we will gather on the following Tuesdays OR Wednesdays to discuss our almost 30-year-old New Century Hymnal.  Just as no one hymn can bear the weight of all our diversity.  No one hymnal can do that either.

Here are the topics:

Please note: each week the topic on Tuesday and Wednesday will be the same.  Yes, feel free to attend Tuesday night one week and Wednesday the next.

Tuesday, July 23 at 6:30 p.m. OR Wednesday, July 24 at 11 a.m.  ~ Translated and Updated, talking about inclusive language

Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. OR Wednesday, July 31 at 11 a.m. ~ Where do we go from here?  The unresolved and unfinishable work of letting our lives flow on in endless song.

Tomorrow, Sacred Conversations on Race ~ gathers at 3 pm in the Oasis Center and on Zoom on the following date:

July 10 ~ We will explore our Top 41 hymns as a church and ways to cultivate singing our Racial Justice Covenant.

Sacred Conversations on Race will take the rest of July and August off for a summer break.

Or please contact the church office to verify.

If you have dropped your landline, gotten a new cell phone number or email, or had any changes in the way the church contacts you.

Finally, if you would like a new picture in the on-line directory, let us know!!

Our hope is to have this project done by September!  Please check today and let us know that the information is correct.

Director of Music Search Team Update ~

We are receiving interest in our search for a new director of music.  We still appreciate your help sharing and spreading the word about the position.

The Search Team will continue the prayerful work to find the candidate who is a good fit with our Covenants, Core Values, choir, congregation, and staff.   We will conduct initial Zoom interviews.  Eventually, we will bring candidates to campus for face-to-face interviews.  During this time, we do need to maintain confidentiality concerning who is applying.
Please hold the Search Team in prayer.  Thank you to Lori White, Jane Hunder, Jeff Smith, Peggye Mezile, Linda Pursley, Gregg Matthews, Diane Miller, Nancy Morris and Pastor Wes.

Pastor Wes will be on vacation July 16-21. On July 21, Dr. Christian Hoffman will lead worship.

July 21 is also Adam De Sorgo’s last Sunday with us.  We have been blessed in so many ways by Adam’s music ministry.  Please be sure to thank him!

Stephen Fancher and Glenn Priest will bless us in July and August as we continue to search for our permanent Director of Music.

Coming soon!!  Mark your calendars that there is one service at 10:30 a.m. from August 4 – Labor Day (September 1).

If you have questions please see Pastor Wes or our moderators.  (Harold Mezile ~ Moderator; Carol McCloud ~ Vice-Moderator; Nancy Morris ~ Immediate Past Moderator)
