June 9

We continue our PRIDE Month Celebration

Worship at 8:45 a.m. & 11 a.m. ~

We will recognize our Scholarship Recipients at 11 a.m.

8:45 a.m. ~ We gather in the chapel to worship.  Pastor Wes will continue the sermon series on Acts, preaching on Acts 8:26-36, 38.  We will sing a brand-new hymn reflecting the affirmation of the Ethiopian eunuch.

11:00 a.m. ~ We gather in the sanctuary or online.  Pastor Wes will continue the sermon series on Acts, preaching on Acts 8:26-36, 38.  We will sing a brand-new hymn reflecting the affirmation of the Ethiopian eunuch.  The Choir will sing, “All Things Bring and Beautiful” by John Rutter.

Fellowship Time follows 11 a.m. is our COLLAGE luncheon featuring a speaker from ALSO Youth speaking on pronouns.
We welcome Adam De Sorgo to lead our choir and music this weekend and through the month of July.

Prayer Circle ~ Thank you to Jane Delgado-Semidei, we have re-established our Prayer Circle ~ a group of members who will pray for you each day.  There are prayer cards in the pews OR you can also find the prayer request on our website.

Please join Sarasota Brady and Moms Demand Action this Saturday, June 8 at 8 pm at Bayfront Park ~ close to O’Leary’s Restaurant. Please wear orange as we gather to raise our orange glow sticks in the air for awareness of gun violence in our community and country.  The event will feature speakers and the solidary of being together.


June is PRIDE Month.  Worship services will include participants from COLLAGE each Sunday in June.  

June 8th ~ Silver Pride Event, Sarasota Senior Center.   From Noon – 5 p.m. members of COLLAGE will be providing outreach (COLLAGE is a financial sponsor of Silver Pride).  

June 9th ~ COLLAGE Luncheon featuring a speaker from ALSOYouth on the importance of the use of pronouns.

On Tuesday, Pauline Geary and Debbie Hays of COLLAGE met with Julie Forestier, Zander Moritz, Anya Dennison of SEE Alliance in Sarasota as a way to collaborate and support each other.  


Summer Salad Sing in Syster Hall on June 16th at noon.

You are invited to a potluck pitch-in meal.  Once our stomachs are full, we will lift every voice in singing.  Please bring a salad (tossed salad, chicken salad, Jell-O salad, etc…) to share or a dessert if you prefer.  We will sing the top five favorite hymns as submitted by YOU to Pastor Wes as well as sing some new hymns.  We will begin to discuss how words create worlds, how we can experience the eternal in music in different/diverse ways.  This conversation will continue in the month of July.  Please plan to attend this wonderful event.

Director of Music Search Team Update ~

The job description for Director of Music was unanimously approved at the May Council Meeting.  


The job description is now posted on our website as well as on the websites of: American Guild of Organists, UCC/Other Denominational Musician Networks, and Music Conservatories (Eastman, IU, Oberlin) We have reached out to Sarasota musicians to share through word-of-mouth as well as past Artists-in-residence. All candidates are required to submit a resume and repertoire for us to review.  

The Search Team will continue the prayerful work to find the candidate who is a good fit with our Covenants, Core Values, choir, congregation, and staff.   Please remember that we are entering the confidential part of the search and are unable to discuss particular candidates or share names.  We pray you understand.

Sacred Conversations on Race ~ gathers at 3 pm in the Oasis Center and on Zoom on the following date:

Save the Date! On Sunday, June 23rd, join the Peace and Justice Team at a special Fellowship Hour in Syster Hall after the 11 AM service to learn about voting procedures for the upcoming SMH Board election in August, and the statistical impacts of potential hospital privatization on quality of care and cost. More details to follow.
